This past weekend I had the chance to meet Alex and Scott for the first time. I’ve said it before, but I really love that I get to photograph my couples before their wedding day during their engagement session. In a lot of instances this year it is the first time I am meeting the couple. It gives me a really good chance to get to know them, show them how I shoot, and make them feel comfortable in front of the camera.
We got right to work learning about their upcoming wedding, families, mutual friends, and how Scott proposed! Every summer Alex travels to a lake house with a bunch of family. This past summer, Scott planned a secret proposal and took Alex on a walk where he surprised her and got down on one knee. They were surrounded by family and friends!
We made our way around the streets of Alexandria and found cobblestone streets, a secret garden, a pretty gazebo, and even encountered some rain! The rain only lasted for about 20 minutes, but it still allowed us to get some shots with the clear umbrella. I always think these photos are extra romantic. The trees were still out in full fall glory and I was impressed I was able to capture the color all weekend! I assumed this late in November we were going to miss out on all the pretty colors! Alex and Scott were so sweet and so natural in front of the camera. They are planning a summer wedding at Alex’s church and Stone Tower Winery. I can’t wait for their July wedding!
