What a weekend!! These past couple of days marked my first double header wedding weekend. It still feels like quite the whirlwind and I’m trying to remember everything that happened in such a quick period of time. Between Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I spent 9+ hours driving. I left Arlington around 1pm on Friday afternoon to head back to Yorktown and prepare for my wedding on Saturday. It’s fortunate that I can stay with my parents when I head back south and it makes Yorktown weddings feel like a mini trip. My parents recently bought a boat and we had a small window of time Friday night where I was finally able to get out on the water. It was the most perfect, relaxing couple of hours. I’m already marking off dates on my calendar for when I can make another trip back. My siblings and I all begged for them to get a boat while we were in high school and as soon as we all left the house they caved and got one! It gives us all another fun reason to head home 🙂 I missed having Josh home with me on this trip, but he is also right in the heart of his busy season. I’ve mentioned before that he’s started his own business in the past year. He manages an exterior home remodeling business. His weekends are about as booked as mine throughout the summer and fall.
After spending so many hours in the car on the weekends I’ve gotten my routine down pretty well. I listen to tons of podcasts and have mentioned before that I LOVE the How I Built This podcast. I listened to episodes about Stripe and Bob’s Red Mill this weekend. Both were great and inspiring! I also can’t help but jam out while I spend so much time alone in the car. I played my fair share of Queen on repeat!
I will admit that I was nervous about my first double header wedding weekend, but things could not have gone more smooth! The timelines for both weddings worked out so well and I am so thankful that I had today off work to rest and recharge for another full week ahead. I am also so thankful for the loading cart in my building! Traveling all over the place especially for weddings requires a LOT of gear. The amount of gear that I travel with is getting out of control. That cart is my saving grace at the end of the night!
All in all, I am so thankful for this job and the people I get to meet and interact with over the weekends! Enjoy this week’s bright and colorful mood board below!
