Photographing little ones is no joke! I photographed this special family several weeks ago at the Jefferson Memorial. When the kids first arrived I spent 5 minutes with them by myself. This kept them interested because they were just meeting me. Once they warmed up after about 5 minutes they were ready to run all over the memorial!
This family is so special to me because Rena was my 5th grade teacher! And one of the best teachers I ever had! She is one of those people who I’ve been able to keep in touch with since I was young. She was a big influence on me in my childhood and always showed how much she truly cared. She cares so much that when I graduated high school she surprised me at my graduation party!! This was the first time I got to meet her son Finn. He was so fun to meet!! And also incredibly smart. He’s 3 and already reading…
We had a limited time frame to plan this session. Rena, her family, and her brother’s family were all going to be in town for just this one weekend. They are also preparing to move overseas very soon! Unfortunately, it was raining all weekend and even rained throughout our entire session. But thank goodness for the Jefferson Memorial! Shooting within the columns is like shooting in a giant white box. The light bounces at just the right angle and we were able to capture beautiful portraits all while staying dry! That’s a win win in my book!
Granholm family, thank you so much for thinking of me to photograph you all! I can’t wait to see you all again sometime hopefully soon!
