Every year a new generation of law school graduates reaches out to me to capture their graduation photos. Four years ago I started these portraits for a close friend. Every year since my name has been passed down to the next group and we meet at iconic DC locations to take their portraits. For the last three years the Supreme Court Building has been our starting place. This year was no different.
Due to COVID-19 the girls I photographed this year had to miss out on their graduation. These photos were so important so that we could capture this special time in their lives despite missing out on the usual celebrations. This year I photographed two different groups of ladies. I always love hearing where everyone is from and where they plan to go after taking the bar exam. This year I had ladies from Colorado, Ohio, California, Oklahoma, New York, Brazil/Switzerland, & Hawaii. So impressive!
After re-scheduling several times we finally met at the end of June. It was convenient for us to meet at the Supreme Court building, the Capitol building, and the Lincoln Memorial. I did both graduate sessions at sunrise on different days. This is always helpful in order to avoid crowds of tourists. Of course this isn’t the biggest issue right now anyways. The light is always beautiful in the morning and the sun peeks out right behind the Supreme Court building. It was the perfect setting for graduate photos.
I can’t wait to carry on the tradition next year!
